If being honored as Billboard’s Women in Music Rising Star last week wasn’t enough to leave Nicki Minaj in a state of ecstasy, the results of Billboard’s 2011 Year in Music recap will do the trick. The Barbie Doll finishes a close second to Wayne among Top Artists as the breakthrough success of her debut set “Pink Friday,” a six-week No. 1 on Top R&B Albums, and six top 10s on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, including the No. 1 “Moment 4 Life,” featuringDrake, raised her profile to the superstar level this year. She also finished second to Lil Wayne on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list as “Pink Friday” takes the No. 2 spot behind “Tha Carter IV.”

During her acceptance speech at Billboard’s Women in Music event in New York City on December 2, Minaj commented on her tribulations with trying to earn her place as a top artist in a man’s genre. That determination and gender-blind attitude paid off in 2011 as she is the No. 1 Rap Songs Artist of the year, beating out the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake and Kanye West. Jenny McCarthy will report live from Times Square and Fergie will host the Los Angeles party segments.

LIL WAYNE, BIRDMAN AND NICKI MINAJ ALL LAUGHS ON VIDEO SET

Despite the song title, it was all smiles on the set of the video for Birdman’s latest single “Y.U. Mad.” Lil Wayne and his female counterpart were on-hand for the Gil Green-directed visual for the lead single off Baby’s upcoming Bigga Than Life album.

Nicki Minaj, who is on the song but wasn’t on set was replaced by The Female Weezy. Dressed in camouflaged skater pants and exposed boxer shorts and sporting blonde dreadlocks, Lady Wayne fully embodied the Young Money CEO. It was all in good fun. “Honestly though, I don’t think no one is actually mad, it’s just a figure of speech,” Wayne explained to MTV News, analyzing Nicki Minaj’s hook on the song. “I think Nick just sounded good saying ‘mad’ at that point in the song. I don’t think it would’ve been cooler if she said, ‘That’s why you glad.’”

Even Birdman ditched his patented scowl in favor of a diamond-encrusted grin. “I don’t think it would’ve sounded cooler, I think that’s why she went with ‘mad.’ We have to ask her next time I see her,” Wayne playfully continued. “I’m not sure if you guys are actually really mad, because we don’t want you guys mad if that’s what it is.”

MTV News rode alongside the YMCB crew as they filmed the colorful clip in multiple locations including a studio space and a parking garage in Miami Beach. During a break, Birdman broke down how the single came to be. “Nicki gave me that song. She called me one day like, ‘Stunna I got a record I think you would like,’” Baby said from his bus. I liked it from the start, working with Nicki is just special anyway so and it was something she gave me and I felt good about it so we rocked with it.”

Rick Ross gave the hip-hop community quite the scare on Friday when he suffered two separate medical emergencies, which led him to be hospitalized twice. Ross’ Maybach Music Group, his rap collaborators and hip-hop fans sent digital well wishes through out the day spawning a number of Ross related trending topics on Twitter. Though they were on the set of Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad” video on Friday night in Miami, the Young Money/Cash Money family all prayed that Rozay makes a speedy recovery.

“We actually been talking about him and praying for him on the trailer because he’s such a crucial part of hip-hop right now and we’re just hoping he’s healthy,” Nicki Minaj told MTV News. “That’s all we can do is pray and hope that he gets some rest and comes back stronger.”

After the rapper suffered an unspecified medical situation while aboard an airplane en route to a Memphis, Tennessee performance the aircraft had to make an emergency landing and Rozay was taken to the hospital according to reports. The Bawse appeared to be okay and even posted a video to his Twitter account stating that he was ready to continue with his plans to perform in Memphis.

While aboard a private jet, Rozay suffered a second medical scare, forcing an emergency landing in Birmingham, Alabama where he still remains. Though Ross’ medical condition however has not been officially confirmed, it is widely believed the “B.M.F.” MC experienced two seizures. TMZ is reporting that the rapper will perform tonight at a show in North Carolina.

“Ross is a friend of the family I sure hopes he’s alright,” Birdman said.

Ross has more than his fair share of YMCMB collaborations. He and Birdman have often talked about releasing an entire album together. Rozay is also a guest on Lil Wayne’s “John,” while Weezy returned the favor on Ross’ “9 Piece.” Young Money president Mack Maine described more than a working relationship with the Bawse however. “I pray the homey’s good man. That’s super-fam, that’s my brother,” he said. “That’s my brother minus the music. You don’t run across too many real cats in this fake industry period and that’s a real dude.”
